The Digital Game Development Grant Program invests in Saskatchewan’s digital developers, helping them create digital games and gamified e-learning projects with commercial potential. All projects developed and designed with support from this grant must be made available for sale.
Eligible projects include apps for smart phones and tablets, console or PC games, and augmented or virtual reality experiences.
Projects focused on education or training are welcome, as long as the experience has been “gamified,” meaning users will feel like they are playing a game.
Deadlines & Processing Time
Opening date: May 10, 2023
Deadline: October 25, 2023
All deadlines close at 4:00 PM Saskatchewan time. If a deadline falls on a statutory holiday or a weekend, applications will be accepted until 4:00 PM the following business day.
Application processing time: Applicants can expect to receive results within 10 weeks from the deadline date.
Applicants may apply for a maximum of $100,000 or 50% of the total cash budget, whichever is the lesser, for one application or the entire life of the project.
Applicants may only receive funding one time for each stage of development for the same project.
The official guidelines supersede all information contained elsewhere on this website, delivered to applicants by Program Advisors, or otherwise made publicly available.
Please note that if ineligible expenses (outlined in the Guidelines above) exceed 50% of the project budget, the application will be deemed ineligible.
Activities that receive funding from SK Arts or SaskCulture are not eligible for support through Creative Saskatchewan investment programs.

The following temporary changes are in place due to COVID-19:
A restriction that prevented applicants from including both an administration fee and in-house expenses in their project budget has been temporarily removed.
80% of your grant is paid when the application is approved. The remaining 20% of your grant is paid after the project is complete and your final report has been approved.
