Creative Saskatchewan is seeking a top-notch Communications Coordinator to join our dynamic staff team. Reporting to the Director of Communications, the primary function of the Communications Coordinator is to provide support to the Staff and Board of Creative Saskatchewan by coordinating social media pages and content generation, creating electronic and print communications collateral including original website content, news releases, annual reports, e-mail newsletters, and presentation materials. Internal communications responsibilities may include briefing notes, timely responses to stakeholders and memos.
This position will be of interest to highly-motivated, organized, analytical, hands-on problem-solvers who have the gift of managing multiple initiatives simultaneously. The ideal candidate will possess initiative, the ability to carry-out marketing/media campaigns, exude impeccable attention to written and verbal communication details, have stunning design and layout skills, and effortlessly collaborate with several teams at once. You are confident with Microsoft Office, website content management, email marketing and a plethora of social media networks. Graphic design skills are also a definite asset.
SPECIFIC ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Collaboratively manage, coordinate and create web-content for Creative Saskatchewan’s website; responsible for content-related protocols to keep website up-to-date.
• Provide organization-wide e-communications support. • Elevate Creative Saskatchewan’s social media participation to fully interactive status; write and manage social media content, post the content to our social media accounts; engage with Creative Saskatchewan’s social media community. • Monitor Creative Saskatchewan’s on-line reputation. • Maintain the organization-wide communications calendar. • Organize and maintain a central library of Creative Saskatchewan’s communications and marketing information. • Design and create an interactive online annual report.
Print Materials • Create, produce, and distribute printed publications (brochures, posters). • Manage the creation and selection of photography for print and electronic communications. • Support the development and execution of brand identity and collateral materials for major organizational initiatives. • Obtain vendor quotes for various print collaterals (e.g. brochures, posters, banners, marketing bling).
Media Relations • Conduct research on media relations programs for selected events and activities. • Maintain media archives.
Other duties as assigned, including • Support event planning at industry trade shows, sponsored community events, and other out-of-home marketing opportunities. • Works in close collaboration with the Operations Coordinator to ensure all operations messaging meets Creative Saskatchewan’s high communications standards, including professionally prepared and presented Board and Board Committee materials.
• Completion of a university degree or college diploma in a related field such as communications, journalism or marketing/advertising, plus one (1) to three (3) years’ experience in organizational communications, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. • Exceptional writing and editing skills are essential, with exemplary attention to detail. • Advanced computer skills in organizational electronic communication technology, publishing and web-based communications. • Demonstrated expertise with website and social media content management systems and graphic design and photo/video editing tools. • Ability to work effectively with individuals and teams in a wide variety of settings across the organization, applying interpersonal skills and taking a problem-solving approach. • Knowledge of digital design and production of communications collateral. • Ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive issues with skill, tact and diplomacy and to act with a high degree of ethical and professional behaviour. • Good organizational, project management and time management skills including the ability to work well under pressure to meet tight deadlines. • A results-oriented and enthusiastic team player who thrives on new challenges.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain accuracy and high attention to detail. • Strong skills working both independently and in a team environment. • Highly effective written and verbal communications, with ability to write for various audiences. • Ability to break down complex information to non-technical language. • Proven multi-tasking skills, the ability to work effectively under pressure, to prioritize and to meet deadlines. • A high level of tact, diplomacy, discretion and sensitivity is required.
