Author-Funded Stream
This grant supports self-publishers or publishers working with Saskatchewan authors to produce and market a book.
Opening date: May 16, 2022
Deadline: November 2, 2022
Results available: within 10 weeks from the deadline date

Author-Funded Stream - What's Changed?
1 - Only one book per application (unless the books are all written by
the same author)
This is to protect the privacy of author collaborators and any private financial information, business strategy, or other project insights included in their application.
2 - Projects must include an established Saskatchewan author
Applicants must be either an established Saskatchewan author or be a publisher working with a Saskatchewan author. See the program guidelines for this criteria. This ensures that authors with adequate industry experience to navigate the processes are receiving funding. Emerging authors can still be published by Saskatchewan publishers accessing the Book Publishers’ stream.
Are you an emerging writer? Don't worry, programming from SK Arts or the Saskatchewan Writers' Guild may be a better fit for those still developing their craft, before entering the commercial marketplace.
3 - One deadline per year
We are moving to just one deadline in the year. This will save applicants time, as they will not need to re-apply for limited funds.
This reduction in administration resources allowed us to provide applicants with the opportunity to apply for up to $80,000 between both Author-Funded and Book Publishers' streams!
Author-Funded Application Assessment
Author-Funded applications will continue to be internally assessed in part by Creative Saskatchewan and assessed by a jury.
Unlike traditional publishing projects, self-publishing projects might have not already been vetted by a third-party such as an editorial board or distributor. Applications to this stream will be assessed partially by panel of industry professionals and partially by Creative Saskatchewan. See the assessment criteria for more information.
