Radio General video game tops Steam’s New and Trending list
For any game on Steam, the world’s largest PC gaming distribution platform, a trailer is vital. With help from a Creative Saskatchewan marketing grant, Saskatoon’s Foolish Mortals was able to create a black and white, live-action video game trailer for their new game, Radio General.
Trailers are requirement for the game’s Steam page, and the best way to spark interest and give players a rundown of the game’s concept and gameplay. Foolish Mortal’s Radio General, a World War 2 strategy game with a Canadian perspective, needed its trailer to compete with the dozens of games launched on Steam daily.
Michael Long, lead developer on Radio General, notes that if a trailer is not immediately engaging within the first five seconds, viewers will click away.
“Basically, a live action trailer wouldn’t have happened without Creative Saskatchewan…we wouldn’t have had nearly such a unique trailer.” –Michael Long
Radio General launched recently on April 9th and already Foolish Mortals has received positive feedback for both their game and their trailer.
At one point, the game held Steam’s #1 spot on the New and Trending tab, a huge milestone on a platform with millions of daily users.
