Saskatchewan artist Denyse Klette’s new adult colouring book, Fairies in Dreamland, has spent much of the past few weeks on “Amazon’s Top 100 Sellers” lists. That’s pretty good for a book that hasn’t been officially launched yet. The colouring book’s launch party rolls out all this weekend.
The celebration is just one part of the marketing campaign that has helped her fairy and flower filled publication find its way onto top seller lists. “The marketing grant I received from Creative Saskatchewan allowed me to hire a publicist,” Klette says. “There is no way I’d have been able to afford that on my own, and that investment has paid off with some pleasing sales numbers.” Klette describes Fairies in Dreamland as a wistful exploration of the fine art of colouring, offering sophisticated projects that help people relax, restore, and reclaim their day. She created each of the 62 illustrations by hand, on 10x10 luxury paper, so that each page can be a work of art that stands out on its own.
Effective marketing for Fairies in Dreamland spread word of the publication locally and nationally. Local radio and television talk shows featured the book, with Global TV telling the story of Fairies in Dreamland nationally. More than 10,000 people on Facebook watched a promotional video. The weekend launch event takes place at the Artists’ Loft Studio in Saskatoon on Saturday, Sept. 24 from 10am-5pm and Sunday, Sept. 25 from noon to 5pm. More details can be found here.
