U of R Press brings Canadian titles to NYU Press Sales Conference
U of R Press attended NYU Press’ seasonal sales conference late last year, pursuing the opportunity for more book sales internationally.
At the conference publishers pitch their titles to NYU Press sales staff who work with American retail outlets such as Barnes & Noble, Amazon, and a variety of box and independent bookstores.
For U of R Press, this meant the chance to show NYU Press professionals why American consumers should care about Canadian stories.
Thanks to an investment from the Creative Saskatchewan Market and Export Development Grant, U of R Press was able to make the most out of the trip to New York.
“Funding from Creative Saskatchewan allowed this trip to become a multi-functional one. NYU Press holds two annual sales conferences, to which all of their publishing partners are invited to present their upcoming titles. This was the primary and important purpose of this trip to New York. But as the new director of URP, being able to arrive a day early and have one-on-one conversations about our overarching collaboration in addition to presenting our newest titles, was a wonderful opportunity to build relationships that even the best office technologies can't facilitate.”
-Kristine Luecker, Director of U of R Press
