Showcase or Sell Travel Grant

• Please note that the budget templates in our Grant Management System are updated every year. Do not re-use templates from a previous application. If you are unsure, please contact a Program Advisor.
• Wording change from “Interactive Digital” to “Digital Game Development”
• Under Eligible Applicants in the guidelines, it was clarified that Music and Live Performing Arts applicants must have an industry showcase invitation.
• Additional examples of Eligible Projects and Expenses have been added to the guidelines, specifically:
  • If the applicant is a primary caregiver responsible for a child(ren) and/or someone with medical needs they may include childcare or caregiving fees to care for their ward for the duration of the showcase or market event.
    • Childcare expenses are capped at $35 per hour that the applicant is participating in the showcase or market.
    • Home support worker/caregiver expenses are capped at $52 per hour that the applicant is participating in the showcase or market.
      • In either case, if special circumstances require support expenses that exceed this rate, reach out to a Program Advisor for approval prior to the event.
  • Events must take place within the fiscal year the application is submitted to prioritize funding for immediately upcoming showcase and market opportunities. Creative Saskatchewan’s fiscal year begins April 1 and ends March 31. For example, the 2024-25 fiscal year begins April 1, 2024, and ends March 31, 2025.
  • In-house performance fees are capped at industry standard union fees.
• The following item was removed from under Ineligible Projects and Expenses in the guidelines: In-house performance fees.
• Creative Saskatchewan’s Financial Participation has changed to the following:
  • Showcase or Sell Travel applications for each market or event are capped at $5,000 per event, with a cap of $15,000 of the approved project budget or 50% (whichever is the lesser) per application.
  • Applicants are capped at one Showcase or Sell Slate grant per fiscal year. Applicants may still apply for single Showcase or Sell Grant events once final reporting has been submitted for their Slate grant.
• Successful recipients of a Showcase or Sell Travel Grant must include the Creative Saskatchewan logo or credit on promotional materials as outlined in the General Guidelines.
• Please note that the General Guidelines have been updated for 2025-26.

The following were removed from the Assessment Criteria from last year:

• Budget Backup for more than 50% of line items over $500.

The following section was added to the Assessment Criteria for this year:

• The resumes, bios or CVs should align with the work they are being hired to do on the project.
• Budget line support documentation should be provided for all line items $500 and over. If support documentation has not been provided for more than 50% of line items $500 or more, the application will be deemed ineligible.
• Examples of budget line support documentation include:
  • Estimates or invoices from vendors and service providers
  • A calculated breakdown of applicant or staff labour (#of hours x $rate = total)
  • An email, text message, price list, or website screenshot from the vendor or service provider confirming their rate. The applicant has included budget backup for more than 50% of line items over $500.

The time it takes to fill out a strong application varies from person to person and often depends on project complexity or the amount of detail included.

For this reason, we strongly encourage applicants to apply well in advance of the program deadline. Allow yourself time to:

• Read the General Guidelines and the Guidelines specific to the program that you’re applying for.
• Book a consultation with a Program Advisor if you need any support or have a draft ready for review
• Make any necessary edits and conduct a final proof
• Submit your final application

• 60% of your grant is payable when you sign the letter of acceptance. Copies of airline receipts may be requested at this time.
• The remaining 40% of your grant will be paid after your final report (with all receipts) is submitted and approved.

There are three stages to our payment process. The stage in which your application is in will determine the approximate date of your payment:

Step 1: Invoice Submission & Coding

• Estimated timeframe: within 1 week of receipt

Step 2: Approval Process

• Estimated timeframe: 1-5 business days (varies based on approvers’ availability)

Step 3: Payment Processing

• Estimated timeframe: 3-5 business days after approval
