SaskMusic is the non-profit, member-based association representing the commercial music industry of the province.
They work with artists, musicians, songwriters, music studios and the many other creative and industry roles associated with the music scene. SaskMusic has a deep music archive including catalogue material, and monitors new music released in all genres. SaskMusic offers the following resources that may be of interest to production companies:
Connections to source Saskatchewan artists and existing original music, encouraging and helping to facilitate synch usages of Saskatchewan-made music;
Information on Saskatchewan-based scorers/composers;
Provision of curated lists of music options to fill a specific brief/scene;
Distributing calls-for-submissions to the music community when new leads are desired.
In many cases, SaskMusic provides these services at no cost to the production.
SaskMusic also curates many different types of playlists on Spotify, YouTube, and their own website, for music seekers who wish to discover music options on their own. They provide consultation services to their members, including helping new music creators learn the basics of synch licensing.
