The Author-Funded Book Production Grant supports self-publishers, or publishers working with Saskatchewan authors who have made a financial contribution to the cost of production, to produce and market a book.
Please note: Book publishing projects that are not financed by an author must apply to the Book Publishers‘ stream of funding – not the Author-Funded stream below.
All deadlines close at 4:00 PM Saskatchewan time. If a deadline falls on a statutory holiday or a weekend, applications will be accepted until 4:00 PM the following business day.
Application processing time: Applicants can expect to receive results within 10 weeks from the deadline date.
Results will be delivered via e-mail and will be available in GMS
This grant covers up to 50% of eligible book production costs or $15,000 per application (whichever is the lesser).
Projects involving significant illustration or photography may apply for 50% of eligible book production costs or $25,000 per application (whichever is the lesser).
Applicants may not receive more than $80,000 per fiscal year from both Book Publishing Production Streams.
Author Funded Stream Guidelines
Please note that if ineligible expenses (outlined in the Guidelines above) exceed 50% of the project budget, the application will be deemed ineligible.
Activities that receive funding from the Saskatchewan Arts or SaskCulture are not eligible for support through Creative Saskatchewan investment programs.
You’ll be asked these questions as part of the online Grant Management System application process, pay close attention to the maximum number of points available!
Tip – Applicants are encouraged to describe the book partnership between author and publisher. Author applications to this grant stream are strengthened by partnerships with publishers.
